During the time he was in bed after the snowplow accident, Jeremy Renner was accompanied by family and friends who supported him in his recovery process. One of the people who was with him during that difficult stage was Robert Downey Jr, the actor recalled.
In an interview with People, Renner told how his partner in avengerswho won his first Oscar last week, supported him after his accident.
“We ended up having really great conversations on FaceTime, like we were dating or something,” said Renner, who was in a snowplow accident in January of last year that nearly cost him his life.
At that moment, Renner said he was in the worst pain of his life and Downey was there to distract him and make him feel better.
“He tells me: ‘Dude, the most important thing is that you look good. I don’t care how you feel, as long as you look good, that’s all that matters,’” said the 53-year-old actor.
Renner said that Downey is a fan of Mayor of Kingstown, a Paramount+ series starring the actor, and which he mocked when he left the hospital to return to the set. “He said, ‘You have to come back to play mayor, because we need to see what happens,’” Renner said of what his friend said about his character.
In January of last year, Jeremy Renner suffered an accident that almost cost him his life.: He was hit by a snow plow that ran out of control and crushed him at his home in Reno, Nevada.
As a result of the accident, The actor had a hemorrhage in his leg and fractured 30 bonesin addition to chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.
The actor first spoke about the accident in April of last year in a special called Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A story of terror, survival and triumphwhich aired on ABC and Hulu.
“I was awake the entire time,” he revealed about the incident. “I started writing notes on my phone, my last words to my family,” he added about what he did while in the hospital.
Renner has gone through a long and painful recovery and rehabilitation process. The actor made his first public appearance in April of last year at the premiere of Rennervations, a Disney + documentary series that has him as the protagonist.

Recently, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, The 53-year-old actor said that he is focused on his physical recovery process and that, little by little, he has been improving.
“I have to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” Renner said. “This recovery is a one-way street. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I’m looking forward to it. There is always something to do to improve, to be stronger, to be happier, to be healthier, and that is what I hope for,” he assured.
Although his recovery has been a difficult and “heartbreaking” experience, the actor says he feels grateful for his progress.. “I can’t believe he’s sitting here right now. I am very grateful. “I am very happy to be moving forward in life and I am happy to share this life with the wonderful people I love,” he stated.
