In the last month, The retail chain Walmart has announced the closure of several of its locations, among the main reasons is poor performance and the termination of lease contracts.

During the past year, Walmart closures reached more than a dozen stores; many retailers have opted for this measure, among other things, due to the push for e-commerce and even bankruptcies.

For the month of February, the retailer closed two of its locations in San Diego, California. The first was located at 2121 Imperial Avenue in the Logan Heights neighborhood and the other in El Cajón at 605 Fletcher Pkwy. Many consumers were concerned about Walmart’s decision.

Previously, in a statement, Brian Little, a Walmart spokesperson, said that there was no single cause for a retailer’s store to close. Our decision is based on several factors, including historical and current financial performanceand is in line with the threshold that guides our strategy for closing underperforming locations,” he said.

Which Walmart location will close in March?

San Diego won’t be the only city where Walmart will close some stores in California. Through a statement he expressed that by March 29 of this year it is expected that The establishment located in West Covina, at 2753 E. Eastland Center Drive closes its doors to the public.

According to a Walmart spokesperson, the decision was made after a “careful review process.” According to The retailer has approximately 5,000 stores throughout the country, but some no longer meet the company’s expectations.

Regarding the store in West Covina, the spokesperson highlighted “While our underlying business is strong, this store has not performed as well as we had hoped.”. As for employees, all are eligible to transfer to other locations.

For Walmart communications director Alicia Anger, “we hope to continue serving you at any of the other 16 locations in the area, on walmart.com and through delivery,” she said while adding “We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our store in West Covina.”
