Richard Lewis' wife thanked the comedian's fans for their support

Following the death of comedian Richard Lewis, his wife, Joyce Lapinsky, shared an emotional message of gratitude for the support that he has received from the actor’s fans.

Through the comedian’s X account, Lapinsky assured that Lewis would be moved by all the expressions of affection he has received in recent days.

“This is Joyce, Richard’s wife. Thank you for your loving tributes to her. He would be beyond excited and moved, as would I,” says Lewis’ wife.

In addition, Lapinsky indicated that fans who wish to support Richard Lewis in some way could do so through donations to Comedy Give Backa non-profit organization created to help comedians when they need it.

Richard Lewis and Joyce Lapinsky met in 1998 at Ringo Starr’s album release party, according to People magazine. ANDIn 2004 they got engaged and the next day they married.

“Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he has been like a brother to me,” David began. “He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me cry and I will never forgive him for that,” he said.

Richard Lewis began his acting career in the 1970s. with roles in films and television series such as Diary of a Young Comic (1977), Temporary Insanity (1985), House Calls (1980), among others.

Between the 80s and 90s, he became one of HBO’s most recurring presences. with his comedy specials.

In 2000, his friend Larry David invited him to participate in Curb Your Enthusiasmwhere he had a recurring role as himself.
