While it is true Robert Nesta Marleyas is his real name, is considered a reggae legend, his life was not always simple, as happened with his childhood in the village of Nine Mile, where he grew up in a house with needs and without great luxuries.

“I grew up in the mountains, in the same place that brought my mother and grandfather into the world. A small town that the locals continue to call by the same immemorial name… “, is how Bob referred to what was his first, but also his last resting place, since his remains rest there.

Added to the economic shortages, little Bob suffered the death of his father when he was only 10 years old and had to endure all kinds of insults from blacks and whites, since the former considered him white, while the latter classified him as black.

Despite all the setbacks he received before his adolescence, little Bob built character and transformed all those experiences into experiences, so by 1975 he already had his own house on Hope Road, which was not very luxurious, but Yes, it was a real palace compared to the home in which he spent the first stage of his life.

The house continues to preserve its great legacy today, which makes it a must-see for lovers of its music, as there are even specific excursions to tour its refuge in the middle of the mountains.

The roof and the bed in his room were so special to him that they even appear in some of the verses of his song ‘I wanna love you’.

The house, which is currently considered a National Monument, has a kitchen, dining room, living room, bedrooms and a patio. The kitchen, which is still outdoors, also inspired one of his songs, the famous song ‘No woman, no cry’.

In addition to the rooms that he enjoyed in life, the property currently has a mausoleum, which not only attracts attention for housing his remains and those of his beloved mother, but also for its Ethiopian-style architecture.

“Elevated to continue dreaming,” reads the plaque that was placed next to his body, which is embalmed and standing.
