After Katy Perry’s resignation from the American Idol show, Jordin Sparks expressed that she wants to take her place. This week, the singer-songwriter expressed her desire to replace the “Roar” singer as a judge on the talent show.

In 2007, Jordin Sparks became the youngest contestant to win American Idol, just 17 years old. After her participation in the singing contest, the artist published her first album, which received good reviews.
Since then, Sparks has remained active in the field of music. In October, she released her latest single titled “Call My Name,” which she accompanied with a music video directed by Alfredo Flores.
Sparks has released four studio albums: Jordin Sparks (2007), Battlefield (2009), Right Here Right Now (2015) and Cider & Hennessy (2020).
In 2009, the singer opened shows for The Circus Starring: Britney Spears, Britney Spears’ sixth tour, and the following year she went on her first tour: Battlefield Tour.
The singer has also had several appearances in television shows and movies such as Zack and Cody: Twins on Board, Sparkle, Big Time Rush, BrainSurge, Show Dogs and God Bless the Broken Road.

This week, Katy Perry announced that she is leaving American Idol. The singer reported that the next season of the program, number 22, will be the last one she will be in.
During the Jimmy Kimmel Live show, The singer revealed that she has several commitments for this year, so she will not be able to continue on American Idol.
“This fall, in September, I’m doing a big music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio… so I think this will probably be my last season for Idol,” Perry said.
“I mean, I love Idol so much. “It has connected me to the heart of America, but I need to feel the pulse of my own rhythm,” she added.
When asked about the reaction of Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, her colleagues on the show, the singer responded: “Well, they’ll find out tonight!”
In an interview on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show, Lionel Richie said he was not upset with Katy Perry for leaving the show. “It just threw me off track when I first found out. “My phone exploded,” she said.
Richie said he didn’t know about Perry’s decision and that he found out just like everyone else. “No, we didn’t know, but it makes sense,” he said. “When Katy says, ‘I want to go and create some stories,’ she remembers that she’s young. But the thing is, you have to take the time and really be an artist,” he added.
In 2018, Katy Perry joined the American Idol judging panelwhich this Sunday premieres its 22nd season.
