First FIFA ranking of 2024 published: This is how Mexico and the United States are positioned

FIFA published this Thursday its first ranking of 2024 in which there are no big surprises in the top positions, but there were some changes in the middle of the classification in which there were movements for the Conmebol and Concacaf teams.

These movements also arose from the achievements of the Asian Cup, which was won Qatar, and also in the African Cup of Nations, which Ivory Coast won surprisingly.

Argentina remains in first place

The Argentine team, current world champion, continues to FIFA ranking front, table that does not experience any variation in the privileged positions despite the dispute of the African and Asian Cups.

The Albiceleste continues to lead for another month with 1855.20 points and precedes France (1,845.44) and England (1,800.05) on the podium. Belgium (1,798.46), Brazil (1,784.09), Netherlands (1,745.48), Portugal (1,745.06), Spain (1,732.64), Italy (1,718.82) and Croatia (1,717.57) complete the ‘top 10’.

The United States drops one place and Mexico remains unchanged

Uruguay is still close by, in eleventh place, with 1,665.99 points, Colombia is fourteenth with 1,655.29 and Mexico fifteenth with 1,652.7.

For its part, the United States dropped one place to thirteenth place and was surpassed by Morocco after its participation in the African Cup of Nations.

Team USMNT remains slightly above Colombia and Mexico, places that could change after the FIFA date in March and then the Copa América in the middle of the year.

Qatar, which has revalidated the title in Asia, is the team that has won the most points (92.04) and has risen 21 points to sit at 37, his best position in the world rankings.

Nigeria, African runner-up, is ranked 28th, and Ivory Coast, winner of the CAN, is ranked 39th.

Senegal is second in its confederation, seventeenth, despite falling in the round of 16, surpassed by Morocco, twelfth, which rises one place.
