A goal in the 91st minute allowed Javier Aguirre’s Mallorca to win an exciting victory at home against Rayo Vallecano (2-1) With which they were able to return to the path of victory in LaLiga where they had already added a total of five consecutive games without being able to add three points.

The Balearic team was desperate for a victory taking into account the proximity it has to the bottom of the classification in the Spanish championship and Kosovar striker, Vedat Muriqí was in charge of making all of Son Moix celebrate with his goalthe first for him since his return from injury.

The attacker gained space from the Madrid defense to head a cross from a corner kick from the right taken by Dani Rodríguez at the end of the match to put final figures (2-1) on Mallorca’s fourth victory in the Spanish tournament this season.

“I was going to change him (Muriqí), but he told me he could last the 90 minutes. Vedat is a born leader with and without the ball. His fighting spirit infects the team. In football we need players like him.”Javier Aguirre said about the Kosovar player in the press conference after the match.

Before Vedat Muriqí scored, his fifth goal of the season, those from Vallecas had leveled the game through a goal from Álvaro García (m.76). Mallorca had taken the lead on the scoreboard thanks to a goal from Antonio Sánchez (m.48).

“They subdued us in the second half. It’s true that Rayo’s goal was an accident, but I didn’t see how we could score. The team showed fatigue and it is likely that they deserved a little more, as has happened to us in other games.”considered “Vasco” Aguirre.

Mallorca, which had not won in LaLiga since December 21, put an end to its drought of victories in the Spanish championship where it is now in 15th place in the standings with 23 points after 24 games played. They are six units away from relegation.

After an important result achieved in midweek in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey by drawing goalless against Real Sociedadthe Balearic team once again leaves good feelings in the Spanish tournament where it has been difficult for them to obtain good performances this season.

Now, Javier Aguirre’s team will face Real Sociedad again next weekend, this time in LaLiga, looking to start a streak of good results in the Spanish tournament. After that duel they will face Alavés and then face Real again in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semis on the 27th of this month.
