Killer Mike was arrested at the Grammy Awards ceremony

Killer Mike was arrested at the Grammys. After receiving three awards, the American rapper was escorted by police outside the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the 66th edition of the awards given by the Recording Academy was being held.

The Hollywood Reporter published a video showing how two police officers lead Killer Mike out of the ceremony in handcuffs.

Until now, It is not clear what the reason for the rapper’s arrest was; However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it is due to a misdemeanor unrelated to the Grammys.

“I just spoke with an official who told me that it is a minor crime and that it has nothing to do with what happened here today inside the arena. He will probably be released once the problem is solved,” reported Chris Gardner, a reporter for the American media The Hollywood Reporter on his X account.

Apparently, the CEO of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr., was speaking with the rapper’s security and team for about 10 to 20 minutes before heading backstage.

The arrest occurred just after Killer Mike won three gramophones in the categories of Best Rap Album for MICHAELBest Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers” and Best Rap Song for “Scientists & Engineers” at the previous Grammy ceremony.

“To all the people who think you’re too old to rap, bullshit. I don’t give a damn if you’re rapping about how many girls you have in the nursing home, make sure you keep hip-hop alive,” the rapper said while receiving the awards from him at the pre-show gala.

The rapper is known for defending social equality and denouncing police brutality.

Killer Mike won his first Grammy in 2003 in the category of Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “The Whole World.”

This Sunday the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards takes place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
