Dmitry Bivol signed a contract to hold a unification fight with Artur Beterbiev, according to reports

Dmitry Bivol, light heavyweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO), signed a contract for the unification fight with Artur Beterbiev, as reported by the Russian agency TASS.

According to a spokesperson for the Bivol team, the Russian will face Beterbiev if he emerges victorious from his next fight against Callum Smitha duel where he will defend his belts from the International Boxing Federation (IBF), the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and the World Boxing Council (WBC).

“We have signed a contract for the fight on our part. “We are prepared to hold the next fight with Artur in case Beterbiev defeats Smith,” the spokesperson said.

Dmitry Bivol took advantage of his dominant victory over Lyndon Arthur last weekend to ask for a fight with the winner of the Artur Beterbiev vs. Smith and search once and for all for the titles he is missing to fulfill his goal of being the undisputed 175-pound champion.

“I hope the next fight is against the winner of Artur Beterbiev and Callum Smith. Now My goal is to be undisputed champion. “I want to fight whoever wins,” he expressed in the interview in the ring after the fight.

Although it wants to be given a chance to unify, the WBC is remains firm in its decision not to sanction fights involving Russians due to the war that that country maintains over Ukraine, so this could be an obstacle in its path to achieving that confrontation. But Vadim Kornilov, Bivol’s manager, said that he does not expect the organization to intervene.

“The fight with Beterbiev is possible in March or April next year. But he still has a fight with Smith in January. I don’t think there are obstacles from the WBC. And I don’t think there’s any (obstacles) with anyone else. “Sanctioning bodies will want to participate in a fight of this magnitude,” he told TASS.

Notably The Russian returned to action after a year of inactivity (His last fight was a victory over Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramírez and he comfortably beat Lyndon Arthur in 12 rounds, after sending him to the canvas once, to win on the judges’ scorecards 120-107 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dmitry Bivol, 32, is the 175-pound champion of the WBA and now the IBO after beating Lyndon Artur. The Russian He remains undefeated in the sport after 22 fights, 11 of them on the fast track.

For his part, Artur Beterbiev is the unified light heavyweight champion of the WBC, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO). The Russian has not lost and has 19 victories with 19 knockouts.
