The director of the Colombian Police, General William René Salamanca, said this Wednesday in a press conference that the operation that ended with the capture of Rodríguez was carried out by special commandos in the Caracolí hamlet.

“It was a professional and clean operation, with full adherence to human rights,” said General Salamanca.

During the police action, which included navigating dangerous swamps in the dark, the commandos noticed the presence of a minor, the son of the alleged drug trafficker, and immediately proceeded to provide him with special protection and restore his rights.

Rodríguez’s capture occurred after months of intelligence work because the drug trafficker alternated his movements between high-end trucks and beasts of burden, always carrying a false ID.

Likewise, the criminal dressed his security men in peasant clothing, including a machete on their belts, to try to detect police presence up to 3 kilometers around.

With the capture of alias Atilio, according to General Salamanca, culminates a 16-year criminal history of Dairo’s cousin Antonio Úsuga David, alias Otonieldetained by the institution and extradited to the United States, where he is serving a 45-year prison sentence.

The senior officer recalled that Rodríguez was one of the trusted men of Otoniel’s successor, Jobanis Ávila Villadiego, alias ‘Chiquito Malo’.

The captured He was in charge of transporting illicit drugs in speedboats to some countries in Central America and the Caribbean.where it had clandestine storage warehouses, with the capacity to store up to 20 tons of cocaine, and where it maintained cash flows exceeding one million dollars per week.

For the international trafficking of the caches, it had links with drug trafficking networks in Europe, in charge of receiving, marketing and distributing illicit substances on that continent.

This result of the authorities, in which four cell phones and a digital memory were seized, is part of the offensive against the ‘Clan del Golfo’, the main criminal gang in the country.
