Cuauhtémoc Blanco did not miss the opportunity to launch a harsh criticism against some players of the UANL Tigres after the Águilas del América were crowned champions of the 2023 Apertura tournament of the MX League.

The azulcrema team took the victory (3-0) in extra time as a result of the goals scored by Julián Quiñones (m.91), Richard Sánchez (m.104) and Jonathan Rodríguez (m.120), in a match in the fact that The university team finished with three players expelled: Raymundo Fulgencio (m.80), Nahuel Guzmán (m.95) and Luis Quiñones (m.120).

“All Americanists are happy, but you (the media) are going to be annoying about the expulsion, but America deserved it”launched a critical Cuauhtémoc Blanco during the celebrations in a packed Azteca Stadium.

The legend of the azulcrema team harshly criticized the Tigres goalkeeper, Nahuel Guzmán, who saw two yellow cards at the start of extra time, after Julián Quiñones opened the scoring in favor of the Águilas del América.

The Tigres goalkeeper left his area to try to stop a counterattack led by Quiñones, whom he brought down with a hard tackle that the main referee of the match, Andonai Escobedo, did not hesitate to sanction with the second yellow card and his subsequent expulsion.

“I don’t even remember the name of the Tigres goalkeeper, what is his name? Nahuel! He is a clown, I’m going to tell him that he is a clown, they love being protagonists. “I am always going to defend Americanism and I think that sometimes they go too far.”said Blanco, the club’s second all-time top scorer with 153 goals.

André-Pierre Gignac also took his share

Cuauhtémoc Blanco, current governor of Morelos, did not hesitate to also throw a dart against the experienced French forward, André-Pierre Gignac, who before this Sunday’s game against the Águilas del América had made some comments about Miguel Layún.

“He is a great footballer, but he cannot offend a player from América like that. I didn’t like the statements he made about Layún at all. The more quiet you are, the prettier you are”said Blanco in reference to the words of the UANL Tigres striker.

It is worth remembering that in the days before the second leg of the final of the Apertura 2023 tournament, Gignac assured that he expected Miguel Layún to retire through the “back door” taking into account that the experienced Mexican defender would play his last game as professional on Sunday.

The Águilas del América ended up winning the 14th championship after the victory achieved this Sunday against the Tigres de la UANL, after having tied 1-1 in the first leg of the final played last week at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario de Nuevo Lion.
