Man serving life sentence for rape escapes from Texas prison; police issue alert

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is searching for an inmate who escaped from a prison in Brazoria County.

According to TDCJ, Robert Yancy Jr. He was serving a life sentence without parole for sexual abuse. continuation of a girl outside of Victoria County.

Yancy Jr. was last seen wearing a black beanie and a black sweater. He was in a white Nissan Versa, license plate DNR9145, the TDCJ said.

“All information obtained up to this point leads us to believe that Yancy is no longer located in Brazoria County. The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with other state and federal agencies so that Yancy can be taken into custody quickly,” the sheriff’s office said.

Robert Dean Yancy Jr., 37, abused the girl over a three-year period beginning when the girl was 7 years old, according to a news release from the Victoria County District Attorney’s Office.
