Regis Prograis says that Ryan García does not deserve the rematch with Gervonta Davis: “You have to go through me”

Regis Prograis, super lightweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), expressed that Ryan García He does not deserve a rematch with Gervonta Davis because he believes that he must first strengthen himself in the division.

In statements to the media collected by Boxing News 24, Prograis thinks that García could do better in a second meeting with Davis at 140 poundsbut he assures that before that he must confront him and someone else.

“I think he (Ryan García) will do better. If he reaches 140 and fights Tank, I think he will do better, but at the same time, you don’t deserve that fight. You have to get stronger,” said the fighter.

“You have to go through me and someone else (at super lightweight) to get that fight (against Gervonta) again, because they stopped you. So you can’t start making excuses now. Things are not like that,” she added.

In the first fight, Gervonta Davis defeated Ryan García a rehydration clause that stipulated that both fighters had to weigh themselves a few hours before the confrontation and none could weigh more than 146 pounds. In addition, the duel took place at 136 pounds, a weight that the Californian had not given since 2021.

If you beat me, you beat me”, he declared to the press in his press conference for his fight with Óscar Duarte.
