Elderly man attacked in Beverly Hills declared that he was the victim of the attack because he was Jewish

The man who was attacked in Beverly Hills this Saturday declared that He was a victim of aggression for being Jewish.

In an interview with NBC, the victim, who was identified only as Ralphy, said that he was attacked, along with his wife Rebecca, as they walked to the Beverly Hills synagogue.

The couple mentioned that, when they met near the intersection of North Rexford Drive and North Santa Monica Boulevarda man ran up behind them in an apparent robbery attempt.

Authorities identified the couple’s alleged attacker as Jarris Jay Silagi, 44 years old.

“Our officers quickly apprehended the suspect and he is in custody. “This despicable act of hate against a member of our community will not be tolerated,” said Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) Chief Mark Stainbrook.

Silagi faces charges that include assault with a deadly weaponattempted robbery, hate crimes and elder abuse.

In a statement released this Sunday, Beverly Hills police reported that, when officers arrived at the scene, they found the elderly man who had a laceration to the headan injury he suffered as a result of being hit with a belt.

Silagi is scheduled to hold this Tuesday, December 12, his first appearance in court.

After suffering the attack, the couple mentioned that they returned to their home so that Ralphy could change clothes and later returned to the synagogue.

The attacker remains in custody of the authorities with a bond of $100,000 dollars.

In recent days, two attacks occurred allegedly for racist reasons.

A grandfather was beaten on Tuesday, December 5 while walking with her granddaughter in a stroller in the town of Calabasas.

Moments after this incident, the same subject, identified as Ángel Sánchez Jr.also attacked a 14-year-old teenager.

Authorities confirmed that the two victims in Calabasas were of Asian American/Pacific Islander descentincidents allegedly motivated by racial issues.
