This month, retired teachers in the state of Texas who are at least 70 years old could receive a one-time payment from the Teacher Retirement System, These stimulus checks will be distributed at the end of December.
After approval of Senate Bill 10 in which It was proposed to increase the monthly pension checks of retired teachers between 2% to 6% Through a ballot like Proposition 9 this year, Texas lawmakers announced that this will benefit all retired public education employees in the state.
Nevertheless, This project has had multiple demands which could threaten the schedule for the new provisions of the Teacher Retirement System and the dates on which payments are intended to be sent next year.
The lawsuits and complaints are mainly against the voting machines; the complainants claim that they are not certified, stating, among other things, that they violate the Texas Election Code.
How much is the payment amount?
For now, for this month payments will be made on Thursday, December 28 for those who receive paper checks by mail and on Friday, December 29 for those who opted for direct deposits. The amount is $2,400 dollars.
It is anticipated that by 2024, beneficiaries age 75 and older will be given a one-time payment of $7,500 and Beneficiaries ages 70 to 74 could receive checks and direct deposits of up to $2,400 in January 2024, according to Senate Bill 10 estimates.
