Carlos Vela and LAFC are left without a two-time championship after being defeated by the Columbus Crew in an intense MLS final

Columbus Crew ended the dream of the two-time championship for Carlos candle and LAFC. The score ended with a tight 2-1 for the Crew at Lower.com Field. The goals were scored by Cucho Hernández from the 12th spot and the Ghanaian Yaw Yeboah with a real great goal that gave him a 2-1 lead with which his team would win glory.

In this way the Columbus Crew establishes itself in this MLS season with its third titlethis 2023 being very special since they became a true “giant killer” since the semifinal in which they left out Cincinnati FC, the most consistent team in the first round.

For its part, LAFC Carlos Vela loses his third final of the year after falling before in the final of Concacaf and the Campeones Cup, and their dreams of a two-time championship are drowned in the midst of the unknown over the continuity of Carlos Vela in the next season with those led by Steve Cherundolo.

Columbus Crew hit LAFC twice in five minutes

The Columbus Crew started the game with enthusiasm against a LAFC that was a bit observant and did not have great situations. At minute 32 and after a handball in the area, the Colombian Juan Camilo Hernández opened the scoring for the Crew from the 12th step.

Five minutes later the Ghanaian Yaw Yeboah scored a real goal with a shot from the left edge of the area that left Carlos Vela and LAFC on the ropes. This is how the first 45 minutes went, the scoreboard would not move at least in the first 45 minutes with a score that could have been a little wider.

The Columbus Crew was not satisfied with the 2-0 lead, however, poor aim did not allow them to increase the score. Carlos Vela and Denis Bouanga were the most insistent for LAFC and the Mexican was cautioned in the 48th minute. He was later saved from an expulsion for dangerous play.

The Crew was more, but the MLS scorer, Denis Bouanga took advantage of the lack of aim to score for LAFC in the 74th minute with a left-footed shot from point-blank range, which left the goalkeeper no chance.

But LAFC continued trying without success and in a very timid manner, despite the almost 10 minutes of stoppage time given by the main judge.

In the end The tragedy took shape for the eleventh Angelina that falls for the third time in a final in 2023 and could not repeat the glory of the two-time championship, a feat that was last achieved by its neighbors the LA Galaxy in the 2011-2012 seasons.
