A renovated house and lots of parties brighten Disneyland this season

This year, in addition to the Disney Festival of Holidays, the multicultural holiday celebration at the Disneyland resort—Christmas, Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day—guests will encounter something new: the reopening of Adventureland Treehouse, the tree house inspired by the Swiss Family Robinson film.

But before going into details about the renovated house, let’s start with the Christmas holidays, which will be in style on stages at Disney California Adventure, such as the Palisades Stage, the Sonoma Terrace, and for the first time, in the Hollywood Backlot.

The classic Long live Christmas! returns to Paradise Gardens Park also in Disney California Adventure, with a street party starring the Three Caballeros. Folklore dancers, mariachis, samba dancers and percussionists participate in it. They are joined by giant mojigangas and Mickey and Minnie in their best—and new—Christmas finery. In this area there is also live music, dancing and visits from Disney characters, including Mirabel, from the film Encanto.

Meanwhile, in Disneyland park, like every year, the most spectacular view is that of Sleeping Beauty’s castle, which is dressed in winter with icicles and snow-covered turrets. In some areas of this same park, artificial snow falls at night at select times.

The attraction known as It’s Small World has a Christmas version of the song that accompanies this tour, while Jack Skellington, from the film The Nightmare Before Christmas, takes over the Haunted Mansion this season.

For those who cannot leave the park without taking photos with the Disney characters, it is good to know that Mickey, Minnie and some of their friends are wearing new outfits. In addition to these characters, Santa Claus is available to pose with his fans around the resort until December 24.

Also in the Disneyland park, one of the must-see attractions is A Christmas Fantasy Parade, the parade featuring characters from Frozen and Toy Story.

Regarding the treehouse, this Disneyland classic is now ready to receive visitors. After having been out of service for two years, this attraction returns to pay tribute to the original house that Walt Disney and his collaborators created in 1962 inspired by the film Swiss Family Robinson, produced by Walt Disney.

Visitors will find mom’s music haven, son’s nature room and daughter’s astronomy loft. Downstairs is the kitchen and dining room, as well as dad’s art studio, which displays hand-drawn sketches and paintings of every room in the house.

Each room represents the passion of each of the inhabitants of the house. The inventions, devices and gadgets in dad’s studio are a reflection of the tastes of the entire family, who enjoy exploring the unknown.

The holiday celebrations end on January 7.
