In 10 days, households eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Florida will begin receiving their food stamp payments for the month of December, the amounts are sent to recipients depending on the number of members in the household.
The benefits of SNAP in Florida are sent between the 1st and 28th of each month; However, the exact day beneficiaries receive their payments depends on the digits of the applicant’s case number.
How much is SNAP in Florida?
In this first round of payments for the month of December, individual beneficiaries receive $291 dollars, a household of four receives $973 dollars, while a household of eight receives $1,751 dollarsFor additional members, the program sends them $219 more in food stamps.
The evaluation for the exact amount each beneficiary household receives also takes into account other factors such as income limits, household size, dependents, among others.
How will payments be sent?
As we have explained, payments are distributed on the exact dates depending on the beneficiary’s case number, therefore, digits 00 through 03 receive their SNAP benefits on the first day of the monththose that end in 04 to 06 have their benefits on the second day of the month and so on they are sent successively until reaching the digits 96 to 99 who get their money on the 28th.
According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in the state of Florida they are more than 2.85 million people who receive SNAP benefits This represents 13% of the population. These payments are loaded to an electronic benefit transfer card.
With the monthly deposit of the program, beneficiaries can purchase basic foodstuffs in authorized retail stores, supermarkets, farmers’ markets, among others.
