Alejandro GarnachoManchester United footballer, will not be sanctioned for the gorilla emoticons that he used on social networks to refer to his partner André Onana.
Garnacho, who deleted the publication, received support from Onanawho assured that no one should tell him why to be offended, that the gorilla represented “strength and power” and that the matter should not go any further.
Now, the English federation (FA) has confirmed that will not sanction the Argentine, despite the fact that he did suspend Bernardo Silva for one match in 2019 for comparing Benjamin Mendy to a conguitoand three to Edinson Cavani in 2021 for telling a friend “Thank you, little black guy.”
“The player explained to us that the use of the gorilla emoticon was for highlight the strength and power of his teammates, specifically André Onana and Harry Maguire (heroes that day)for the role they played in the victory against Copenhagen,” the FA said in a statement.
The federation assured “it was satisfied” with the footballer’s explanations and the context clarified and will not carry out any sanctions.
