Marvel turned to the iconic figure of Tony Stark, ‘Iron-Man’ played by Robert Downey Jr., and Steve Rogers, ‘Captain America’ played by Chris Evans, to generate excitement around his next film, ‘The Marvels’. They used a series of clips from previous films in their cinematic universe to promote the long-awaited release.
Through its official channels, Marvel presented the final trailer for the new film, which stands out for the stellar participation of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, also known as ‘Captain Marvel’, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, ‘Ms. Marvel’, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau.
It is relevant to mention that Nia DaCosta is the director of the film, while the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, is listed as producer of this sequel to ‘Captain Marvel’.
‘The Marvels’ mainly focuses on the participation of three key characters: Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). However, other iconic MCU characters are expected to play a major role in the plot, including Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and appearances have been announced for the likes of Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), Emperor Dro’ ge (Gary Lewis) and Prince Yan (Park Seo-joon). The latest trailer also revealed a cameo by Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.
An interesting fact is that ‘The Marvels’ will become the shortest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with an official duration of only 105 minutes, equivalent to one hour and 45 minutes. Until now, the title of the shortest film was held by ‘Thor: The Dark World’, with 112 minutes, that is, one hour and 52 minutes.
The anticipation for ‘The Marvels’ is on the rise, at the moment, the date of its arrival on the streaming platform has not been announced which houses all the content related to the MCU, Disney Plus. The film promises to be an exciting chapter in the expansion of the Marvel universe on the big screen.
Robert Downey Jr. announces the conditions to return as Iron Man
Recently, a Variety article shed light on a crisis that Marvel due to disappointing results in recent projects within the MCU. This has given rise to the idea of reuniting the original cast of “Avengers” in future productions.
In the midst of this speculation, the question everyone is asking is whether Robert Downey Jr. would be willing to return to Marvel to play Iron Man again. However, the actor himself already answered this question in an interview conducted on a podcast three years ago.
For a time, rumors circulated about a possible return of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, the possibility of a cameo in the movie “Thor: Love and Thunder” was even mentioned. However, Marvel has made it clear that it would only consider his return if there is a compelling creative reason to include the character of Tony Stark.
In an interview given in 2020 for the podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience”, the actor expressed his willingness to return, but stressed that this would depend on the existence of arguments and circumstances that he found intriguing and justified his return to the MCU.
Robert Downey Jr. mentioned: “There would have to be a very compelling plot and set of circumstances that made my return as Iron Man in the MCU obvious. For now, I want to explore other projects and I’m not considering being Tony Stark again, but who knows in the future.”
While this raises the possibility of an Iron Man return in the future, the actor has also expressed his desire to diversify his career to avoid being pigeonholed into the role of Tony Stark.
