OpenAI, leader in the field of artificial intelligence, has surprised the public with a series of exciting news during its most recent event for developers. These innovations not only promise to boost the capability and accessibility of their services, but also add significant value to users of ChatGPT and other OpenAI tools. Below we present the most notable updates announced:

GPT-4 Turbo with 128K Context

The star announcement of the event was new model GPT-4 Turbo. This gem of artificial intelligence is even more powerful than its predecessor and is characterized by its astonishing 128K context window. In other words, GPT-4 Turbo is capable of handling a staggering amount equivalent to over 300 pages of text in a single request.. Furthermore, OpenAI has managed to optimize its performance, which translates into a price up to three times more affordable in terms of input tokens and up to twice as affordable in output tokens compared to GPT-4. This improvement in affordability is exciting news for both developers and OpenAI users.

We’re rolling out new features and improvements that developers have been asking for:

1. Our new model GPT-4 Turbo supports 128K context and has fresher knowledge than GPT-4. Its input and output tokens are respectively 3× and 2× less expensive than GPT-4. It’s available now to…

Smart assistants

One of the most exciting reveals at the event is the launch of the Assistants API. This API allows developers to create AI-based assistants to perform specific functions that require a certain type of knowledge and prior training. Assistants are specifically designed AIs with specific instructions and additional knowledge, allowing them to call models and tools to perform specific tasks. The Wizards API offers capabilities such as Code Interpreter and Recoveryas well as function calls to facilitate the development of high-quality AI applications.

Text to Speech (TTS)

Developers now have the ability to generate high-quality speech from text using the Text-to-Speech (TTS) API. This new version offers six preset voices and two model variants, tts-1 and tts-1-hd. TTS is optimized for real-time use cases, while tts-1-hd focuses on quality. Prices start at $0.015 per 1,000 characters of input.

Monetization

In addition to these exciting news, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, made an equally significant announcement during the event. From now on, users will have the ability to create their own assistants with ChatGPT 4 Turbo and make them available to other users. This new functionality opens a world of possibilities, since will allow users to generate income based on the number of people who use the assistant they developed.

However, it is important to note that, at least for the moment, This feature will be restricted to users who have Enterprise accounts. This measure seeks to ensure high-quality, controlled use of wizard creation capacity, while providing developers with a unique opportunity to monetize their creations and offer custom solutions to a broader audience.
