Authorities reported a toddler was hospitalized in critical condition after he shot himself with a gun he found in the yard of a daycare in Las Vegas.
The gun in question had been discarded by a fleeing teenager after opening fire on a city bus, authorities announced Friday.
The boy, a child under five years old, “found the firearm, picked it up and fired it,” said Deputy Police Chief Reggie Rader in statements reported by The Associated Press.
Rader indicated that The child was in stable but critical condition. Friday evening.
Police officers found the suspect in disposing of the weapon, an unidentified 18-year-old minor, in the area of the daycare in northeast las vegas and they arrested him.
Police said it was not immediately clear what charges the teen will face, but that the department was consulting with the local district attorney’s office about “all applicable charges” and whether he will be charged as an adult.
The teen had been running from the city bus when he jumped over a wall and entered the daycare play area, authorities said.
Rader said the teen got into an argument with a man on the bus, pulled out a gun and shot him. That man was also hospitalized and was in stable condition.
Also on Friday, but at night, authorities reported that An 11-year-old boy died and five others were injured. in a shooting recorded in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Theetge said when officers arrived at the scene they found one person, a man, dead at the scene. Three other victims were transported to Children’s Hospital Medical Centerincluding one who is being treated for life-threatening injuries, while two victims were transported to University Hospital.
The deceased victim was later identified as an 11-year-old boy, according to a news release from the Cincinnati Police.
“It is absolutely unacceptable in our city, unacceptable, that on a Friday night six people were shot and killed in a single incident,” the police chief said, according to CBS News.
Initially the ages of the injured were not revealed, but it was later reported that they were also minors.
