Volkswagen Group enters Formula 1: This is how it plans to arrive in 2026 with Audi

Audi doesn’t just plan to participate, it also wants to win. For this reason, last year in Madrid it presented a strategic plan to become a winning team within three seasons, that is, in 2029, revealing that it would be “incredible” to have the talent of the Spanish Carlos Sainz Jr., currently at Ferrari.

“We would love to be competitive from the first moment, but we have to be realistic. “We would like to be in a position to compete to win races in three years,” he said. Adam Baker, global head of the F1 Audi project, at a press conference.

The executive revealed that there are currently 130 people, but to be successful you must have talented and committed personnel, therefore, they plan to make an investment that goes beyond the development of the car.

“To achieve success in F1 you have to have it all. We are going to do everything possible for this, not only in developing an engine; “We are going to invest in the entire team,” he commented.

Audi’s plans

“In principle, we will work with an existing partner and will provide details before the end of the year. “It is possible that the regulations will force us to supply engines to other teams, but right now we are focused on our work program,” Baker said.

“We have a lot of time until our debut, we have 42 months left until our first race. Furthermore, we are at the beginning of the 2026 regulations, so we are at the beginning of the cycle. “As an entry point, 2026 is a very attractive year,” he concluded.
