The US deals a new blow to Russia and sanctions more than 200 entities related to the war in Ukraine

The United States Government reported that it imposed economic sanctions on more than 200 individuals and companies linked to Russia to reduce their ability to receive future income.

The objective of the new sanctions is to break the networks that, according to the United States, Moscow had woven to avoid the multiple economic punishments imposed since the start of the war in Ukraine. in February 2022, the State Department said in a statement.

The Treasury measures will affect about 130 people and companies, including some from Turkey, China and the United Arab Emirates, while those from the State Department affect about 90 entities.

Among the sanctioned companies are some that have participated in the reconstruction of the city of Mariupol, destroyed after the long siege by Russian troops.. “Russia depends on individuals and entities from third countries willing to resupply its Armed Forces,” said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, noting that Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and China have become “logistical centers” for Moscow, which It operates in these countries for “export, re-export and transfer to Russia of foreign-made technology and equipment,” including “critical components on which it depends for its weapons systems.”

After almost two years of war in Ukraine and multiple sanctions, Russia has managed to avoid part of these obstacles by importing prohibited goods for both civil and military use. for billions of dollars, as concluded in August by the independent Russian portal Viorstka.

As a result of the US sanctions this Thursday, all properties and assets that those involved may have in the US are frozen and US citizens and companies are prohibited from carrying out transactions with them.
