Fernando Almada, iconic Mexican actor, dies at 94

Fernando Almada, member of the National Association of Actors, died at the age of 94. His death was announced this morning, and the actor is best remembered for his outstanding participation in Mexican films from the Cine de Oro era. Furthermore, he was a prominent figure in the Mexican “western” genre, along with his brother, Mario Almada.

Although the causes of his death have not yet been publicly revealed, various personalities in the artistic world have expressed their condolences to the actor’s family and loved ones through social networks.

Inside of Almada dynasty, Fernando was the youngest brother, born seven years after Mario. Despite this age difference, on screen they formed a great artistic couple. Instead, they began working at the nightclub owned by their father, known as the “Cabaret Señorial.”

Alejandro was the first to debut as an actor, while Mario ventured into production. It was not until 1963 that Fernando joined his older brother and acted in the film “The Witch Riders,” in which he replaced actor Bruno Rey. This experience marked the beginning of his acting career.

Although Alejandro was the only one of the two brothers who participated in films of the Golden Cinema era, together they made history by welcoming the western genre in Mexico. This genre, originated in the United States, found its own version in the Mexican context. The successful collaboration of the Almada brothers covered more than 100 films of this genre.

The passion of Almada to consolidate the western in Mexico was so profound that over time they founded their own production company. Despite their efforts, the production company was not successful, and according to online sources, Alejandro and Mario faced business challenges due to their lack of experience in the business field.

Of the last films in which recorded the performance of Fernando Almada They include “Perro no come perro” and “The Widow of Chihuahua,” released in 2001 and 2003, respectively. In his last film appearance, the actor was 74 years old.

In addition to his acting career, Fernando also demonstrated his abilities as a singer by performing songs such as “Lo del agua al agua.”
