The Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martínez received the 2023 Yashin Prize as Best Goalkeeper of the Year at a gala held in Paris, France, although the boos tried to muddy his award ceremony.

At 31 years old, Dibu Martínez had previously received the award for Best Goalkeeper in January, at The Best Awards presented by FIFA.

To get the Yashin, he left aside other big names in his position such as Yasin Bono, Thibaut Courtois, Ederson and Marc-André Ter Stegen.

The moment of joy for the Argentine was when his father, Alberto Martínez, appeared backstage to congratulate him and give the trophy to his son, which moved the footballer.

The Argentine Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez, goalkeeper of Aston Villa and the world champion team, was awarded this Monday with the Yashin award, which designates the best goalkeeper of the year, at the Ballon d’Or gala.

Martínez succeeded Real Madrid’s Belgian Thibaut Courtois who obtained it last year.

Upon his arrival at the Chatelet Theater in Paris, the Argentine had already been the victim of boos from French fans present there.
