“If I’m honest, I would try it again; For me a podium was not going to be enough; “The only thing I dream of is winning at home,” said Pérez in reference to the accident at the start of the race.

From fifth position, the Mexican attacked at the start of the race, he was left to the left of the car of Charles Leclerc from Monaco, of Ferrari, with which he had an impact, as a result of which he left the track with major damage to his car.

“It hurts me a lot, we had a good opportunity. I tried it and if I had done well, it would have given me a chance to win the race. It was not so; I had contact with Charles and he was unfortunate,” she explained.

Hamilton cuts points from Checo Pérez

The British Lewis Hamilton, of the Mercedes team, celebrated his second place in the Mexican Grand Prix this Sunday, which he interpreted as a relief, after having been disqualified in the Austin race.

“It has been a difficult two weeks because of what happened last week, something difficult to digest; today we had to push from the beginning”, ssaid the seven-time world champion.

Hamilton withstood the pressure from the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc from Monaco and was second at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez from the Mexican capital, behind the Dutchman Max Verstappen, from Red Bull, who secured the world title.

The result allowed Lewis to confirm his third place of the season and cut 19 points of difference with respect to the Mexican Sergio Pérez, second in the classification, who was left out of the Grand Prix due to a collision with Leclerc. Now the Briton is 20 points behind the ‘Czech’.
