David Bisbal shares an emotional meeting with his father in a documentary about Alzheimer's

David Bisbal, the renowned Spanish singer with an extensive career of 20 years and a great success in Latin America thanks to songs like ‘Ave María’ and ‘Bulería’, has surprised his followers and the general public by sharing an emotional moment that he experienced with his father, who suffers from Alzheimer’s.

This moving encounter between David Bisbal and his father, José Bisbal, were recorded in a documentary. The camera takes us to a house in Almería, and there, in the living room, we observe the two men sitting. David, visibly moved, starts a conversation with his father.

He asks his father: “They told me that you were a great boxer.” To this question, his father quickly responds: “And the good ones.” David continues the conversation with tenderness: “My father, mine, was also a boxer. His name is Jose Bisbal Carrillo“. Faced with this revelation, his father recovers a fleeting memory and says: “That’s me!”

This dialogue reveals the notable deterioration in memory that he is experiencing Jose Bisbal due to the Alzheimer’s. David, in a moving gesture, assures his father that the most important thing is that he does not forget who his father is. He tells her: “Yes, of course, you are my father. And I am David. You do not remember me? The thing is that I’ve grown up, I already have a white beard and everything. You were a great boxer, a boxer from Granada. I know that you no longer remember me, but I do remember you. And that’s what matters”.

Finally, father and son begin to sing a song together and embrace each other tenderly. This moment is an expression of love and connection in the midst of the difficulties that the family faces due to José Bisbal’s illness. The song “Ay Almería” reflects their connection to their homeland and culture, a reminder of the ties that endure despite the challenges posed by Alzheimer’s.
