There are 18 confirmed dead and 13 injured in shooting in Lewiston, Maine, says governor

Maine Gov. Janet Mills adjusted death toll in Lewiston bowling alley shootingwhich put 18 people dead, he said at a press conference.

There are also 13 confirmed injuries, but state and local police continue to investigate. The figures could change.

“I am deeply saddened to stand before you today to report that 18 people were killed and 13 injured in last night’s attacks,” the Democratic governor said.

Originally a figure of 22 murdered people was used, but the figure was adjusted to 18, although the authorities indicate that these are the people fully identified.

The suspect, Robert Cardstill a fugitive and is wanted by dozens of local, state and federal officials, including the FBI.

Maine police authorities indicated that the suspect, Card, faces arrest warrants for the murder of at least 18 people.

The governor thanked the federal aid and highlighted the dialogue she had with President Joe Biden via telephone.

“In memory of those we lost and in honor of those injured, President Biden and I have ordered that the flag [de Estados Unidos] and that of the state of Maine will be lowered to half-mast for the next five years,” he indicated.
