Killed at least 22: FBI joins search for Robert Card, suspected shooter in Lewiston, Maine

Federal agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other agencies have joined the search for Robert Card, suspected of killing at least 22 people and injure between 50 and 60 people.

Police in Lewiston, Maine, continue to gather information about the victims to report final numbers, but confirmed the identity of the suspect, who is a man with military training.

Dozens of local and state police began the search for Card on Wednesday night.suspected of attacking a bowling alley in Lewiston apparently with an AR-15 rifle, where people tried to hide wherever they could, including at the end of the lanes where the balls are thrown.

A fact card from the Maine government notes that Card spent at least two weeks in a mental health facility and he had been discharged from the army due to his mental problems, although his name remained on the reserve list of the National Guard in the town of Saco.

So far, reports indicate that the subject could be in Lisbon, Maine, where his car, a white Subaru, was found.

“The man is considered armed and dangerous. Take precautions in case you make contact with Card or her vehicle,” authorities warn.

Card is also noted as a firearms instructor. The weapon he used is a favorite of attackers in mass shootings.

Various testimonies from local media reveal the chaos that occurred during the attack, such as the case of a young woman whose mother protected her.

“It felt like it lasted a lifetime,” Riley Dumot told CBS. “I just remember people sobbing and crying.”

Lisbon Police Chief Ryan McGee told CNN he has received dozens of calls about the shooter.

“We want to locate the individual and make sure our communities stay safe,” McGee said, but asked people to stay safe.

Biden called the governor

President Joe Biden had a telephone conversation with Maine Governor Janet Milles, the White House said.

“The president spoke individually by phone with Maine Governor Janet Mills, Senators Angus King and Susan Collins, and Congressman Jared Golden about the shooting in Lewiston, Maine, and offered full federal support following this horrific attack,” it says. the report.
