Don't let Instagram track your online activity: this is how you can avoid it

Online privacy is a hot topic in the age of social media and the web. If you’ve ever felt uncomfortable about the way Instagram seems to know your interests, you’re in the right place! Meta, Instagram’s parent company, has introduced new features that allow you to take control of your privacy. In this article, we’ll show you how to set up your Instagram account to prevent your online activity from being tracked.

Privacy controls on Instagram

Meta has implemented a series of updates to its platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, with the aim of giving you greater control over your data. These updates are found in the Account Center of Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, and although some of them are not directly related to privacy, There is a key feature that will allow you to manage how your information connects with your Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Have you ever had the feeling that Instagram knows exactly what you’ve been seeing online? You’re not alone! New Meta feature gives you greater control over your web data, allowing you to prevent Instagram from tracking your online activity. Although this feature is being rolled out gradually, we will provide you with a guide on how to use it once it is available in your app.

1. Open your Instagram App

To get started, open the Instagram app on your device.

2. Access your Profile

Tap the profile picture at the bottom right of the screen to access your profile.

3. Navigate to Privacy Settings

From your profile, tap the three horizontal lines located at the top right of the screen. From the drop-down menu, select “Settings & Privacy.”

4. Access the Meta Account Center

Within the “Settings and Privacy” section, choose “Account Center”, which is the first option on the screen.

5. Manage your Activity Outside of Meta Technologies

Select “Your information and permissions” and then tap the “Your activity outside of Meta Technologies” option.

Here you will find various options to manage your web activity. You can review your recent activity, disconnect activity from specific apps, delete previous data, or manage future activity to prevent companies from sending data about you.

6. Manage your Future Activity

If you want to prevent companies from continuing to track your activity, choose the “Manage future activity” option. and then select “Disconnect future activity.” Doing so will also erase your past activity data. This means that companies and organizations will no longer receive information about your interactions.

Please note that this feature is being rolled out progressively, so it may not be available to all Instagram users immediately.. However, once it is, you can take steps to protect your online privacy in a simple and effective way.
