Because Israel’s offensive in Gaza is leaving thousands of people affected, mostly of Palestinian origin, Bernie Sanders, senator from Vermont, urged international organizations such as the UN to allow the sending of humanitarian aid. and also focus their attention on the nearly one million people displaced by the war conflict who lack the basics to survive.
Through a statement, The 82-year-old politician urged both Israeli forces and Hamas terrorists to end their attacks, especially after the bombing of a hospital in Gaza. where hundreds of Palestinians died.
“The killing of more than a thousand Israelis by Hamas in a terrorist attack is a heinous crime. The bombing of a Palestinian hospital is a heinous crime, as is the displacement of a million people without water, food or medicine.
These heinous crimes must stop now. Bombs and missiles from both sides must end, massive humanitarian aid must be sent to Gaza and the hostages must be returned to their families,” he indicated.
Since last week, The senator who professes Judaism as a religion was against the wave of violence that could drag down more nations in the Middle East and therefore justified the mediation that the United States could carry out in the conflict. Nevertheless. He requested the intervention of other neutral organizations.
“The United States has rightly offered solidarity and support to Israel in response to the Hamas attack, but we must also insist on restraint by Israeli forces attacking Gaza and work to ensure UN humanitarian access. Let us not forget that half of the two million people in Gaza are children. Children and innocent people do not deserve to be punished for the acts of Hamas,” he expressed.
