After a decade of absence from television, Lucero returns to the screens with “El Gallo de Oro”, an ambitious production by Vix. This series marks a milestone in the career of the actress and singer as it is her first foray into the world of series after 43 years of experience.
The story, based on a short novel written by Juan Rulfo, takes place in post-revolutionary Mexico and revolves around the world of cockfighting. The series was filmed on locations in Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí, where the setting of the time was meticulously recreated.
Lucero, excited about her return to acting, shared her thoughts on this project. In his own words, he expressed: “This is a wonderful thing. Being able to be in a story like this and act again is an incredible gift. Because I have a huge passion for acting; “I love singing and having the career I have, but I do believe that acting is a very important plus in my life.”
The character she plays in the series is La Caponera, a woman fond of cockfights who sings in the palenques and who presents herself in an authentic and natural way, without worrying about perfection.
Lucero also highlighted the excitement of returning to the small screen in a television series, moving away from the soap operas that catapulted her to fame. The actress considers this experience exciting and a completely new challenge in her career.
Despite being recognized as one of the iconic protagonists of melodramas worldwide, Lucero does not take her role as a star too seriously. At 54 years old, the actress shows vitality and enthusiasm to continue learning in the industry. She shares that this series has presented her with a different approach to acting, allowing her to enjoy the scenes and filming times more compared to soap operas, as well as having fewer episodes, which makes a significant difference.
“The golden rooster” will premiere on the platform Vix on October 20 and will consist of 10 episodes in which Lucero will share the leading roles with José Ron and Plutarco Haza. The plot revolves around the character of La Caponera, a dreamer who aspires to fame and to take her music to different places. Lucero shares his support for the idea of dreaming and visualizing goals, but it emphasizes the importance of supporting those dreams with constant work and wise decisions.

Later, in 1986, filmmaker Arturo Ripstein adapted the novel to the big screen again with “El Imperio de la Fortuna”, with Blanca Guerra in the role of La Caponera and Ernesto Gómez Cruz as Dionisio Pinzón. The story portrays the depths of human relationships and Mexican traditions, and has been translated into several languages.
