Efraín “Fanny” Munguía, idol of the Águilas del América, dies

Mexican soccer and particularly the America club They lost one of their greatest banners in history. Efraín Munguía died this Monday, October 16, at the age of 57. “Fanny” will be remembered as a great winning forward for the azulcrema team.

It was the Águilas del América themselves who were in charge of reporting the death of Efraín Munguía. ESPN reports indicate that “Fanny” died due to an illnessbut the reasons for his death are not specifically specified.

Throught social media, The Eagles of America dedicated some heartfelt words to their legend. Munguía created his history in the 80’s squad and since then he will be remembered as an emblematic player of the club.

“Club América regrets the sensitive death of the champion and icon of Americanism, Efraín “Fanny” Munguía. “We express our deepest condolences, RIP,” Club América said in its statement.

Efraín Munguía’s numbers are very outstanding. “Fanny” played 421 games in Mexican soccer. In that number of matches, the former azulcrema striker achieved 107 goals.

Efrain Munguia won four championships with the Águilas del América. “Fanny” also had the opportunity to conquer two Champion of Champions and two CONCACAF Champions Leagues.

“A few minutes ago they told me that Fanny Munguia was in very poor health, that I should send her a video of encouragement, With great pain I am finding out that he has already passed away, great teammate, excellent player, rest in peace”, wrote Carlos Hermosillo, on his social networks.
