Diana Floresglobal ambassador of the NFL and flag football player, champion with the Mexican team in the 2022 World Cup, expressed her happiness after learning that the sport also known as “tochito flag” was officially included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
It was through a video published by the NFL Mexico account that the captain of the Aztec team expressed her emotion, describing the event as a dream.
“Flag football is officially an Olympic sport for Los Angeles 2028. The dream come true. I feel very happy, very excited. Thank you to all the players who make this sport so great and so incredible, This is our moment”, said the AFC offensive coordinator in the 2022 Pro Bowlwho also starred a commercial that aired at halftime of Super Bowl LVI.
However, Diana Flores was not the only one who celebrated the achievement, they also did Roger Goodellcommissioner of the NFL, and Pierre Trochetpresident of the International Flag Football Federation (IFAF).
“The NFL is committed to working together to strengthen Flag Football’s place in the Olympic movement for the long term; “We will continue this exciting journey with the International American Football Federation, the Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee, the International Olympic Committee and USA Football,” the commissioner mentioned in a statement sent to the press.
“We congratulate the International American Football Federation for this historic achievement for flag football and the global community that loves and plays our game,” he said.
For his part, Trochet, through his official Twitter account, spoke about what this new sport will contribute to the Olympic Games and vice versa.
“We are convinced that ‘flag football’ will offer an exciting new dimension to the Games, uniting them, for the first time in history, with the number one sport in the United States in its youngest, most accessible and inclusive format, which is already spearheading extraordinary growth, particularly among young audiences, women and girls and in new countries around the world. We have no doubt that inclusion in the Olympic Games will further accelerate this dynamic,” said the leader of this sport at an international level.

It is worth remembering that, in addition to this sport, baseball-softball, cricket (in the ‘Twenty20’ version), lacrosse (in the ‘Sixes’ version) and squash also joined the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
