Steve Cortés, who served as spokesperson for Never Back Down, the PAC that supports Ron DeSantis’ aspirations, submitted his resignation and joins the dozens of casualties who supported the governor of Florida within his campaign team towards winning the Republican candidacy for next year’s presidential elections.

Through a brief statement, Erin Perrine, director of communications for Never Back Down, made the announcement.

“Steve launched his own show and left his role as spokesperson for Never Back Down. “He will continue to support Governor DeSantis in his personal capacity,” the letter states.

It should be noted that Prior to the official announcement of Ron DeSantis’ campaign, Cortés had anticipated his support and the fact that he had served as a senior advisor to former President Donald Trump’s 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns suggested that he could bring good dividends to the Florida politician.

“Governor Ron DeSantis represents the best possible option to win the presidency in 2024 and govern as a highly capable and patriotic populist leader.

I have served as a dedicated spokesperson and supporter of Donald Trump for much of the last seven years, so I do not come to that conclusion lightly, but our America First movement has always been bigger and more important than any individual, and of course In the face of these crucial elections, our activism and our votes must be guided by a clear assessment of recent failures and possible future successes,” he told several news outlets.

However, the campaign did not go as planned and in July he wrote a message on platform X, formerly known as Twitter, where he acknowledged that they were far behind Donald Trump.

The loss of Steve Cortés occurs at a very delicate moment for Ron DeSantis’ aspirations who, prior to the second Republican debate, faced the exodus of some billionaires who supported him financially and since then stopped growing in the political field.

According to the Real Clear Politics average, If the Republican primaries were held today, Donald Trump would have 57.4% of voter support; while DeSantis would only have 12.6%.

For this reason, the former president warns that he will soon give up on his desire to appear on next year’s ballot.

“SOON he will run out of money and drop out of the presidential race. Good luck Ron!” Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.
