Checo Pérez revealed that he hired a mental coach

Recently, the Mexican driver confessed in an interview with the Dutch media De Limburger that he had to hire professional help because the poor results he had in the 2023 season affected his personal life.

Pérez acknowledged that he realized that his performance and confidence were declining when he did not win the Miami Grand Prix. From that moment he began to have a bad streak of classifications and was not able to get into Q3.

“When the season started the car was perfect for me, but cars evolve during the year. After Miami, things went downhill. I had a different car that wasn’t doing so well anymore. Then I couldn’t get into Q3 several times, so my confidence waned. As a result, the driving was also much worse,” said the Mexican in the interview with the Dutch media.

Checo Pérez made the decision to hire a mental coach to get out of that bad streak of thoughts and mistrust, in order to recover a better version of himself as a professional pilot and family man.

“When you are going through such difficult times at work, it is difficult to be happy at home with your wife and children.. So I hired a mental coach because my family deserves to have that cheerful dad at home. Together with my coach I worked to become the best version of myself at home, but also as a driver,” he said.

Over time, the Mexican continues to show that this season has been a great challenge for him, but with the support of his family, team and mental coach he will manage to overcome each of the obstacles he faces.
