Wes Anderson premieres on Netflix

On September 27, Netflix released the medium-length film “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” by Wes Anderson, and subsequently released the other three shorts consecutively, all now available on the platform.

The four short films are based on works by novelist Roald Dahl, famous for adaptations such as “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”, “James and the Giant Peach”, “The Witches” and “Matilda”.

“The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” is the longest medium-length film, 40 minutes long and starring Benedict Cumberbatch. The plot revolves around a wealthy man who learns to see without using his eyes to cheat in casinos, a comic story with recurring elements in the other shorts.

“The Swan” lasts 17 minutes and deals with the topic of bullying, combining stop motion and live action to create a unique suspense. “The Rat Killer,” at just over 15 minutes, stars Ralph Fiennes as a rodent exterminator who undergoes an unusual transformation.

“Veneno,” the latest release, less than 20 minutes long, tells the story of a man who fears being bitten by a snake that has landed on his stomach, creating narrative tension with Anderson’s characteristic humor.
