“Checo” Pérez becomes two-time champion of the Formula 1 Constructors' Championship

The Suzuka circuit, in the Japanese Grand Prix, was the setting for Sergio Perez, Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing They will be crowned for the second consecutive time in the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship.

Despite the unfortunate performance of “Checo” in the race, in which he finished in second to last place, after having to abandon it After running only 15 laps, Max Verstappen’s first place gave the team the title that Formula 1 awards to the team with the most points of the season.

This was possible after Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, the Mercedes drivers, did not get enough points in Suzuka to continue fighting for this title, so Red Bull Racing was crowned with six races remaining in the championship.

The Austrian team won the title with 623 points, a figure unattainable for second place, Mercedes, which has 305 units, while Ferrari has 285.

In this way, Red Bull Racing reaffirmed the title he won in 2022 (two circuits later than in 2023) in the United States Grand Prix, with 656 points, against the 469 that Ferrari had at that time.

This title is the sixth team for the Austrians, who had already accumulated four consecutive ones between 2010 and 2013 with Sebastian Vettel and part of the contribution of Mark Webber.

In the list of constructors’ world champions, Red Bull occupies sixth position, with six titles in history and is one away from fifth place held by the now-defunct Team Lotus. The top is occupied by Ferrari, with 16 crowns.

Championship with a bittersweet taste for Sergio Pérez

After winning the Constructors’ Championship, Sergio Pérez celebrated the great success; however, His celebration was overshadowed by his performance, the worst of the season and one of the most unfortunate of his entire career.

“It’s a good day for the team, not so good for me, it’s a good day to consolidate the constructors’ championship”, commented the Mexican while watching the end of the race from the pits and before forgetting his performance and celebrating the title to the fullest.

For its part, Christian Horner, The head of Red Bull highlighted that they also won the championship in part because of the points that the Mexican contributed.

“It was not his day, but Checo will return in the next race, he is part of this success without a doubt. “It has been an incredible year,” he commented.
