Sergio “Checo” Pérez has been involved in many comments and several controversies due to the various comments that have existed due to his continuity in the Red Bull team. On this occasion the Mexican pilot spoke in the documentary “Checo” from Star+ on discrimination in Formula 1.
“Being a Mexican in this sport is undoubtedly difficult because I haven’t been on the podium for two races and everyone is already talking about the big mistake my team had made in hiring me, about how badly I’m driving… Everyone is “He forgot that three months ago he was fighting for the championship,” said the driver from Guadalajara.
This is because the beginning of his career with the Red Bull team had several races in which he did not achieve several results that fans expected and in that championship he finished behind his teammate Max Verstappen, Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton.
This 2023 Formula 1 season has been one of many ups and downs for the driver from Guadalajara. In the last Grand Prix he has managed to have good results and has achieved several podiums. This caused the bull team to come out in defense of its driver and reaffirm him for the next season.
At the moment Sergio “Checo” Pérez is in second position in the drivers’ championship only behind his teammate. Several former pilots have also sent many messages of support to the Mexican pilot.
