Be in the MX League It does not prevent Sergio Canales from giving his opinion on a case as controversial as the investigation against Luis Rubialesformer president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), for his non-consensual kiss with the soccer player Jenni Hermoso.

At a press conference, the Rayados de Monterrey figure considered that heRubiales’ resignation had been delayed, since it tarnished the image of the organization and in general Spanish football.

“His resignation was necessary, something that I think should have happened sooner due to all the events. Now you have to do things well, be calm and give a good image because you represent a country and that is fundamental,” Canales told reporters.

The 32-year-old midfielder knows Rubiales and the Federation, having been capped 11 times since his debut in 2019.

Rubiales left the presidency last Sunday, in a heartfelt interview with Piers Morgan. Hours later, he published a letter ratifying his departure from office, despite having said a few weeks ago that he would remain at the helm.

Sergio Canales enjoys a new experience in Liga MX

After more than a decade in the Spanish League, Canales accepted the invitation of José Antonio ‘Tato’ Noriega to be the brand new signing of Rayados de Monterrey who insist on seeking a new Liga MX title, this time in the Apertura Tournament 2023.

The change did not look easy for the veteran footballer, but in his first matches he has shown a picturesque technical side, happy with the rest of his teammates.

“I’m really enjoying Monterrey. I have found a coaching staff that I am sure will make me improve a lot, not only me, but the entire team,” Canales highlighted about this new adventure in his career.

The Spaniard also admitted that he has not yet found his maximum level because he did not have a preseason and that these two weeks in which the tournament was stopped due to the FIFA date in September were good for him to train.

“I am in the best moment of my career in terms of physical level and experience, I hope to be able to help achieve the objectives. The most difficult thing in these first weeks is not having had a preseason,” added Canales, who has four goals in eight games with Monterrey.
