65 people arrested in CHP operations against illegal street racing in California

65 people were arrested in California Highway Patrol (CHP) operations against two illegal street racing events that had been promoted on social networks, the authorities reported.

The actions of the CHP Southern Division Street Racing Enforcement Unit were conducted in two separate enforcement operationswhich resulted in 65 people arrested, 72 summonses issued, and 40 vehicles seized.

Operations against clandestine street races and illegal shows They took place on Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9 in the Compton areaaccording to a statement from the CHP.

According to authorities, the majority of those arrested were for participating in illegal street races and illegal street takeovers, although it was reported that two of the arrests are related for other reasons: one for illegal possession of a firearm and the other for assault with a deadly weapon on an officer with a vehicle.

“Street racing and sideshows are dangerous and endanger lives. (CHP) is dedicated to protecting the people of California and will continue to proactively enforce violations related to this illegal activity,” the agency said in a statement.

In May, California Highway Patrol officers broke up two illegal street racing events during the first weekend in which the tenth installment of the “Fast and Furious” movies, called “Fast X”, was presented.
