Miami-Dade police are searching for a 26-year-old man who they said was reported missing by a family member after the Carnival cruise ship they were aboard docked in Miami.

According to a missing persons poster posted by the Miami-Dade Police Department, Kevin McGrath was last seen aboard the cruise ship Carnival Conquest on Monday morning.

Police said he was seen in his cabin aboard the ship at around 2 am on September 4. In a statement, however, Carnival said McGrath was “last seen in his stateroom at approximately 7 am, according to his cabinmate.”

That was around the time guests were leaving the ship, the cruise line said, but an “extensive search” did not find McGrath on board.

McGrath “was not detected by surveillance systems, including US Customs and Border Patrol, during the disembarkation process,” Carnival said in the statement.

After this fact became known, the United States Coast Guard used a helicopter to search the waterin the vicinity of the port, while Miami-Dade police officers boarded the ship to investigate and search, CBS revealed.

Through the wanted poster, Police said Kevin “might need help” and asked anyone with information to contact authorities.

Lastly, the cruise line said they were in contact with McGrath’s family through their Carnival Care Team service.
