According to information from the Spanish portal El Diario, Jennifer Hermoso formalized her complaint this Tuesday, September 5. The player of the Spanish team would have gone to the headquarters of the State Attorney General’s Office and would have filed the complaint with the prosecutor lieutenant of the National Court, Marta Durántez.
According to information from the portal, the prosecutor agreed with the Liga MX soccer player to join the development of the case, but after having formalized his complaint that he made public through social networkswith the intention of ensuring the rights of the alleged “victim of sexual assault.”
One more step against Luis Rubiales
The fact that Jenni Hermoso has decided to formalize her complaint is a significant act for the development of the case before the authorities. If the footballer’s testimony had remained in a public complaint, the prosecution could not take action on the matter by its own means.
As established in article 191 of the Penal Code, in order to begin acting on the crimes of sexual assault and harassment, “The complaint of the aggrieved person, his legal representative or complaint from the Public Prosecutor is needed.”
Luis Rubiales publicly condemned
The former leader of the Royal Spanish Football Federation already suffered a first punishment for the FIFA. The governing body of world soccer Luis Rubiales was suspended for 90 days from all sports-related activities.
On the other hand, the Spanish federation issued a statement in which distances itself from the reprehensible attitudes of Luis Rubiales and reported his total cooperation in the development of investigations into the former leader.
“The RFEF is providing all the documentary and administrative support that is required from both disciplinary bodiesin order to have a resolution, definitively and as soon as possible, that allows compensation for the damage caused, ”the entity reported.
