As of Wednesday, September 13, the first wave of payments will begin for the millions of retirees who receive monthly checks from Social Security, amounts depend on retirement age.
It is expected that by the second Wednesday of the month, as established in the schedule, those born between the 1st and 10th of any month receive their paymentsthese checks are different from those issued by the Social Security Administration to other beneficiaries such as: disability insurance or Supplemental Security Income.
How much is the amount?
The amounts sent depend on the retirement age, in this case for a person retired at 62 years of age, a check for $2,572 dollars is sent each month, those 67 and older receive a maximum payment of $3,627 per month and retirees at age 70 are sent the maximum payment of $4,555 per month.
Now, for American retirees who live outside the country regardless of their day of birth, they will receive their payment this Thursday, September 7, as well as another group of beneficiaries such as people who retired before 1997.
On the other hand, following the schedule, the second wave of payments will be made on September 20, for those born between the 11th and 20th of any month and the third round of payments will be made on September 27 for those born on the 21st of any month.
Changes within Social Security
Even Congress has not reached agreements regarding the financing of Social Security, therefore, the expectation is maintained regarding the changes that can be developed in the coming years, before the trust is exhausted.
On the other hand, despite the fact that the official calculations of the COLA 2024 have not been made, experts assure that it could be located at 3%, if so for next year, increases can be expected in the main four Social Security beneficiaries.
