The Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced this Wednesday that will have bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Colombia, Gustavo Petro, and from Chile, Gabriel Boricon his visit to those countries, which begins on Friday.

The president explained that he will begin his trip to Colombia on Friday after his daily press conference accompanied by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena; the Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, and the Secretary of the Navy, José Rafael Ojeda.

“We are going on an Air Force plane, it is a small entourage, vWe are going to have a meeting on Friday afternoon with President Petrothe next day we participated in an act receiving conclusions of a plan to face the problems related to drug trafficking, that is the issue with Colombia”, he stated.

Then on Sunday The Mexican ruler said that he has a meeting with the Chilean president, although he did not detail the issues on the agenda.

“We have a meeting with President Boric, a meeting, later there will be a meeting with all those who were in Mexico when the exile (occurred) (during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet),” he said.

“All the Chilean brothers (will be), it will be very emotional because we will be in the Embassy of Mexico in Chile and when (it was) the coup many Chileans were protected in the embassy,” he added.

López Obrador was also excited to participate on September 11 in the death anniversary of Chilean President Salvador Allende (1970-1973), whose death he considers “murder” although it was officially a suicide.

“It is the 50th anniversary of the coup d’état and the circumstances that led to the loss of life of President Allende, who I admire very much because he always sought peaceful transformation and was the victim of scoundrels,” he said.

The ceremony will be the last act of López Obrador during his trip to South America, which represents only his sixth tour abroad after almost five years in office.

The president indicated that he will reiterate his intention to seek the economic integration of America.

“Yes, we are always looking for the integration of the entire continent, the ideal of (Simón) Bolívar was the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean, we think that we must continue to be united in our America, as expressed by (José) Martí,” mentioned.
