Shooting at an Alabama nightclub leaves two dead, three injured

Authorities reported that Two people were killed and three others injured in a shooting at a Birmingham, Alabama nightclubthis Monday morning.

A first shooting occurred in a nightclub on Fifth Avenue North early Labor Day morning, according to CNN affiliate WVTM.

However, soon after, shots were fired at a vehicle arriving at the emergency room of a nearby hospitalaimed at people who may have been injured in the nightclub shooting, a hospital spokesperson told CNN.

“At 2:17 a.m. Monday, shots were fired at a vehicle arriving at the emergency department with individuals believed to have been injured in an earlier off-site shooting,” according to information from the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.

“The shooter immediately fled the scene,” the hospital said.

Last week, authorities reported that six people have been hospitalized and two are currently in critical condition after a shooting on the south side of Peoria, Illinois, Wednesday night.

The Peoria Police Department said officers responded to the scene around 9 p.m. Wednesday night after two alerts indicated that nearly 30 shots had been fired on W. Marquette Avenue in Peoria.

At the scene, authorities found several injured people, most with gunshot wounds. According to the Peoria Police Department, five people were shot and one suffered a laceration. All were taken to a local hospital.

According to police, two of the victims, an adult male and a minor youth, are currently in critical condition. The other three victims, a man and three other children, all boys, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

No other information about the victims has been provided so far.
