Authorities arrest suspect in stabbing death of elderly man in Whittier

A subject was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of stabbing an elderly man to death and assaulting another elderly person in separate incidents in the city of Whittier.

In a statement, the The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) reported that the man was arrested at approximately 9:00 am on suspicion of robbery and murder..

The authorities They did not release the identity of the suspect or details about the arrest..

When the LASD reported the search for the suspect, He was described as a man in his 30s who was possibly indigent.

The homicide occurred on the afternoon of August 28 in the eastern city of Whittier. At the scene, the bailiffs The victim was found at a residence in the 15300 block of Goodhue Street with apparent stab wounds.

The victim was identified as Rolland Alexandre, 84, who had died at the scene of the stabbing.

It is believed that the suspect is the same subject who minutes before the crime had attacked another elderly man after entering a residence in the 15500 block of Fernview Street, also in the city of Whittier. The address is located several blocks away from the residence where the homicide was committed.

The aggressor fled when the victim’s son intervened.

During a press conference last week, Sheriff Robert Luna presented video from a security camera that showed that the suspect had entered the residence through an open door.

Minutes later, the subject fled the scene in the Toyota RAV4 owned by the victimvehicle that was later recovered in the city of Chino.

LASD said Homicide investigators worked around the clock to identify the suspect in the homicide, what could be achieved thanks to information provided by the public and other law enforcement agencies, and the support of the security camera images that were recovered.

According to LASD, the Homicide Bureau received the collaboration and assistance of numerous offices and stations of the department and other law enforcement agencies throughout the Southern California area.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for Prosecution.
