Danelo Cavalcante, a convicted murderer, escaped from a Pennsylvania prisonjust a week after he was sentenced to life in prison without parole for stabbing to death an ex-girlfriend, authorities said.

Cavalcante escaped from Chester County Jail in West Chester and is “considered an extremely dangerous man,” was last seen walking down Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township Thursday morning, Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said.

Cavalcante was found guilty of stabbing Deborah Brandao some 38 times in front of her two children, ages 4 and 7, in August 2021, according to a statement from Ryan’s office that announced the sentence. Cavalcante fled the scene before police arrived, according to authorities, but was arrested after being traced to Virginia.
