Ironic as it may be, Dr. Marcos Isaí Vélez Santillán collapsed in the middle of a class at the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).) and despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead.
According to UNAM itself, the event took place on the night of Tuesday, August 22, when the students alerted of the emergency due to an unprecedented event.

Testimonies detailed that from one moment to the next, the professor collapsed, without presenting previous signs of any disease.
Given the situation, several students requested immediate help, and despite the fact that paramedics practiced first aid, they could not do anything to save his life.
The Faculty of Medicine of UNAM reported on the death of the professor and expressed its condolences to his relativesnoting that Dr. Marcos Isaí Vélez Santillán taught the anatomy class.
“The Faculty of Medicine regrets the sensitive death of a professor of the subject of Anatomy, which occurred today during the teaching of his chair,” he said in a statement.
Although it is not an unprecedented fact, it is rare. One last reference was experienced last year in the state of Jalisco, when a teacher also vanished in front of his students, causing the authorities to evacuate the campus to carry out an expert opinion.
